A second Saint-Michel alignment runs across Brittany from Mont Saint-Michel westward to Cathédrale Saint-Corentin in Quimper, passing through nine sites — almost all bearing the toponym Saint-Michel. Unlike the English St Michael Line, which aligns with the Minor Lunar Standstill, this Breton alignment is genuinely what the English line is claimed to be: a Beltane/Lughnasadh sunrise corridor. PHOSPHERE finds 11 sub-arcsecond alignments across 204 km, including a spectacular 1004 CE Beltane hit spanning the full length of the line — just 20 years before the construction of Mont Saint-Michel's Romanesque abbey.

Mont Saint-Michel — The Continental Crossroads

The Breton St Michael Line (bearing 68.66°/250.60°) intersects the continental Sword of St Michael (bearing ~115°/295°) at Mont Saint-Michel itself — at an angle of 135.65°. The tidal abbey is not merely a terminus of two alignments; it is the switching node of a continental network. One line arrives from Ireland and continues to Jerusalem. The other crosses the breadth of Brittany. They meet at a rock that rises from the sea at the precise point where both bearings converge.

The central 100 km stretch — from Plélan through Gourin — sits within ±3.7 km of the great circle. For a chain of medieval chapels scattered across the breadth of central Brittany, this is extraordinarily precise. Plélan sits just 100 metres off the exact line.

A Genuine Beltane Axis

Unlike the English St Michael Line (bearing 58.85°, which misses Beltane by six degrees), the Breton line’s eastward bearing of 68.66° sits squarely in the Beltane/Lughnasadh sunrise zone (~65–67° at these latitudes). Three independent pairs confirm the cross-quarter signature:

The 2852 BCE date falls squarely within the period of megalithic construction in Morbihan. This segment was not chosen arbitrarily. It was placed here because the geometry was already here.

Tumulus Saint-Michel: The Neolithic Anchor

The Tumulus Saint-Michel at Carnac — a Neolithic passage grave over 6,000 years old — connects to the Breton line through two independent sub-arcsecond alignments. This is the key to understanding the entire Michael network: the geometry is the constant; the religion is the variable. Christianity did not invent these alignments. It inherited them, consecrating hilltops that were already astronomically significant for millennia before the Archangel was named.

The Most Significant Single Hit

The perfect year of 1004 CE falls just 20 years before the beginning of construction of Mont Saint-Michel's Romanesque abbey (1023 CE). Standing at the Chapelle du Moustoir on the morning of Beltane around 1004 CE, the sun rose at an azimuth matching the bearing to the tidal abbey with a precision of 0.19 arcseconds — less than 60 cm of lateral offset at 189 km. This is not approximate. This is engineered.

The proximity of the Perfect Year to the abbey's construction date strongly implies the medieval builders possessed sophisticated astronomical knowledge of the alignment before breaking ground — or were inheriting a preserved oral tradition of site placement that had been tracking the Beltane sunrise from this location for generations.
